Berlin has gained another architectural highlight with the 50Hertz Netzquartier in Europacity. At a height of around 55 metres, the construction features seven L-shaped bases and six tower floors as well as an underground level. The open, transparent structure of the building is characterised by reinforced concrete cores as well as a network of white bearing and criss-crossing facade supports. These symbolise the corporate purpose and form a connection with the railway area with its steel bridges. Recognised by the German Sustainable Building Council, DGNB, the construction impresses thanks to its highly efficient sun shading system from WAREMA. With its intelligent control system, it not only complies with the wind assessment, it also provides precise annual shading for each individual room.
