With its distinctive meandering shape, HumboldtHafenEins defines the area around Berlin's Humboldthafen. In 2015, project developer OVG Real Estate received DGNB Platinum certification for the building.
The building concept combines architectural design with technical measures for efficient operation. These include a WAREMA sun shading system that helps regulate solar heat gain. Smart technologies also adjust artificial lighting to the available daylight.
The selection of materials took factors including their service life and CO₂ emissions into account. In this way, the building's various structural and technical measures work together as part of an overall concept.
