Architect Rapp of Rapp Architekten Ulm and the operators of M3ELF developed the plans together. In addition to 120 indoor seats, they planned for up to 150 more seats outdoors.

To make the outdoor space more flexible, part of it was covered with the Lamaxa roof system from WAREMA. The system provides sun and weather protection, expanding the ways the outdoor dining area can be used.

The modular Lamaxa star configuration adjoins the end of the angled building and spans an area of 108 square metres. Its slender supports and deep crossbeams blend into the building's architecture.

Delicate timber columns stand in front of the large glazed areas. Their fascia follows the building's horizontal lines. The Lamaxa star configuration is aligned with the timber columns, creating clear sightlines and routes between the building and the outdoor area.

The foundations for the supports had already been prepared while operations continued inside the building. Working closely with WAREMA's HoReCa project team, the appointed specialist contractor coordinated installation on site. Within a week, four louvred roof sections were joined to form a 9 × 12 metre grouped system.

The central posts are as slender as the outer supports, giving the system a consistent appearance.

The Lamaxa L50 has rotating louvres and is fitted with side awnings with easyZIP guidance all around for additional sun and weather protection. LED strips in the crossbeams provide direct and indirect lighting, while designer radiant heaters add comfort on cooler days.

The system can be operated using a WMS hand-held transmitter or a smartphone. The WMS Weather Station plus detects precipitation, wind speed, light levels and frost, and automatically controls the louvred roof according to the weather conditions it measures.
