The building of Saegeling Medizintechnik GmbH in the Saxon town of Heidenau was one of the first in Germany to be awarded the bronze Quality Seal for Sustainable Building (DGNB). Thanks to a comprehensive quality concept, the employees in the new building can work under ideal conditions with great comfort. The concept stands out with a successful interplay of curved glass facade, white plastered areas, externally visible floor ceilings and external sun shading.

A special sun shading solution was developed for the heavily curved facade sections. In cooperation with WAREMA, a curved external venetian blind with extremely stable 1 mm thick and 80 mm wide aluminium flat slats was created. The slats in the straight sections of the facade have the same slat width, which creates a homogeneous appearance of the outer facade. This solution prevents direct solar radiation and overheating, thereby creating a greater feeling of well-being at the workplace. The optimal interior illumination also reduces the energy costs for artificial light considerably.
