The owner of this 19th-century house had been searching for a suitable sun shading solution for her outdoor seating area for a long time. She found a modern slat roof from WAREMA, which stylishly accents her patio, harmoniously integrates into the overall ensemble and provides protection from sun, wind and rain.

“It is simply beautiful to bring old things back to life,” is the credo of the owner who fulfilled her lifelong dream with this tuff stone house built in 1823 in the Bavarian Alpine foothills. A little over 10 years ago, the real estate expert from Munich bought the single-family house near Lake Staffelsee and meticulously renovated it with great dedication.

It now offers 217 square metres of living space across two floors, combining historical ambience with contemporary comfort. The house’s south-facing facade overlooks the equally lovingly designed garden, which extends behind the two sun terraces with a striking rose arch in the middle.

“It proved more difficult than I expected to find a long-lasting, high-quality and attractive sun shading solution for the garden terrace”, the client says. It was particularly important to her that the space was pleasant to spend time in even in changeable weather and that the high-quality outdoor lounge furniture was well protected. A private tip brought the Lamaxa slatted roof to her attention. The desire to use the same pale green RAL CLASSIC colour that had already been used to paint the wing shutters of her house was also easily fulfilled.

The structure is attached to the wall with two load-bearing supports. Due to the high living room windows, poles were installed with a special height of 3.15 metres. The vertical awning on the south side acts as glare control in low-lying sun and, just like the moveable slat elements of the slat roof, can be easily operated via the WMS radio remote control. The slats can be turned by up to 135 degrees and the vertical awning can be positioned as required.

A weather station ensures that the slats close automatically if it starts to rain, protecting the garden furniture. The high weather resistance and load-bearing capacity of Lamaxa slatted roofs are especially impressive in winter because of the high snow loads that are common in the Alpine foothills.
